Local Non-Profit Gives Back to the Community with its own Charitable Donationon 8 December 2011

Carmel, IN –This year, Central Indiana Dance Ensemble’s annual Nutcracker ballet will open on Friday, December 9th at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center— not to a theatre packed with local art enthusiasts and dignitaries, but instead it will open early for a special free performance to a worthy audience comprised of children from the Julian Center and students from the Lighthouse Academy Charter School. This “pay it forward” attitude is nothing new for the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble who, for the last six years, has been giving back to the community as a special thank you for the community’s support of its mission to bring the dance performance arts to life in Central Indiana. In addition to these two worthy organizations, many other notable non-profit organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, and various youth and senior groups will receive special discounted tickets to see the performance. “It’s our feeling that everyone in the community deserves the chance to enjoy the arts,” notes CIDE Artistic Director Suzann DeLay. “Our special Friday performance allows children who may not otherwise have exposure to arts the opportunity to escape the real world and enjoy the magic of one of the most enduring ballets ever performed.” This year’s CIDE Nutcracker includes over 100 dancers from Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville, Fishers, Zionsville, Indianapolis and Franklin. According to DeLay, “If you have attended the CIDE Nutcracker in the past, you will want to come again, as this year’s production features new costumes and new choreography which really enhances each dancer’s talents.” The CIDE Nutcracker will open to the general public with the Friday evening performance on December 9th and will run through December 11th. All performances will be at The Zionsville performing Arts Center located on the campus of Zionsville High School. Tickets are available for all four public performances and can be purchased by calling the CIDE box office at 317/844-7453 or online at http://www.cidedance.org. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 18 and under.
